Alright.  I’m sorry it’s taken me this long to post anything.  I’m also sorry for the non comic-related pic, but I thought you’d like to see some of the things I’ve been up to.   This pic is from my Design and Concepts class, where we had to design a logo.  If I ever decide to get into web design, or put up a website for freelance graphic design, this will be the logo I use, under the name “Spiked Design”.

Now news about where the comic is going.

Turns out that The Sims 3 was pushed back till June.  I found this out about a week or so after I announced the hiatus, and while admittedly I could have gone back to The Sims 2 and continued with the comic as it was, I had my heart set on a big change, so it seemed like a less appealing option.

So I’ve been thinking about what to do, and I’ve decided (obviously) that the Hiatus will stay, but this time it’s for another reason.  I’m going to see if I can draw it in a more conventional comic style.

The pros will be that I think it’ll be easier for me to attract new readers, many seem turned off by the fact its not in a “normal” style.  I’ll also have much more freedom with expressions and storylines – I won’t have to edit the dialog to fit the available expressions or actions anymore.

The cons?  Well it’s going to take me some time before I feel I am competent and consistent enough to post comics.  I think I’ll also want to re-do the archives so that the art will be the same throughout.  This means there wont be any new content in terms of story for quite some time.  The updates won’t be identical to the ones you see now, though – I’ll make edits and embellishments, add where it’s needed and cut away things that were unnecessary.   So even though you know what will ultimately happen, the way they get there may change a bit.

Of course the possibility is still there for me to use The Sims 3, once it’s out in June and I’ve had a chance to check it out.  If I end up being super inspired by the game then that’s what will happen.  However, at the moment I’m really warming to the idea of drawing it myself, it will be good practice for other comic ideas I have.

Lastly, if anyone is interested, I can post some more examples of my work as it goes.  They are all hardcopy so far, so I’ll have to get my hands on a scanner first, or figure out how to use the Macs at school so I can scan them there… lol.
